Acute Injury/ Pain
Acute:
The word “acute” with respect to injury, means from the time the injury is first sustained, to the point whereby pain has settled, and has a lower chance of aggravation or re injury. The difference in the acute care of MediPhysio compared to other practices is the knowledge we instil in our patients through careful education- know what you’ve done, how the injury occurs, what are you likely to experience/feel, how long your recovery is likely to be, what are the ways you can best manage or reduce your pain/symptoms at home and how to prevent this into the future. The types of acute pain and injuries we, at MediPhysio, treat, but are not limited to, include:
- Neck, head and jaw pain
- Lower Back Pain
- Shoulder pain/injuries
- Dizziness and Vertigo
- Knee pain/injuries
- Hip pain
- ALL sporting injuries
- ACL tears/ ruptures (pre and post surgery)
- Worker’s Compensation/ CTP injuries
Neck Pain:
Treatment for neck pain is targeted at restoring full range of motion of the cervical spine, while getting rid of the pain associated with loss of movement. Through careful diagnosis we determine which area of your neck or upper back is the cause of your symptoms. We then use hands on techniques like massages, mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and more to tackle the deficiencies you may have. Neck pain is quite a common issue and when treated quickly, the results are excellent. If you have any form of neck pain, call us now to discuss and make an appointment. See below for some more common conditions treated.
Jaw pain (Temporomandibular joint pain)
Lower Back Pain:
Lower back pain usually originates from the lumbar spine. In Australia approximately 16% of the total population live with back pain, and even more will experience it iat some time in their life. We have a specialist interest in low back pain and lumbar spine conditions. Our methods may be similar to other traditional physiotherapy treatments, however our plans for patient self management to avoid any further flare ups or complications are very comprehensive and we think, very different to other practices. We can guarantee that not only will you understand your injury better than you ever have, but you will feel in control and able to take care of yourself easily between treatments. See below for some more common conditions treated.
Shoulder Pain:
Shoulder pain like other injuries can be caused by chronic degeneration, or acute injury. Regardless there is usually an acute component that is very easily treated. The main thing to take note of is that when treated early, you will avoid further long term damage, therefore potentially avoiding long term pain. Our methods for treating shoulders come from years of experience with sportspeople and different type of jobs. Whether you are a tradesman or an office worker, getting on top of your shoulder problems is easy with Mediphysio. We use state of the art technology to hone in on the problem area. Our background in Exercise Physiology also allows us to administer superior strength programs that hone in on the muscles involved. See below for some more common conditions treated.
Dizziness and Vertigo:
Dizziness and Vertigo are both symptoms of other injuries or conditions. Some of our therapists have extra training including Masters degrees giving them specific abilities to both diagnose and treat dizziness and vertigo symptoms. See below for some more common conditions treated.
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
Knee Pain:
Knee pain is difficult to manage if you are on your feet for most of the day. Even if you aren’t, the inactivity followed by short burst of activity can worsen a knee condition to the point of becoming chronic. Don’t let an acute knee issue take over your life. Our assessment techniques will allow an accurate diagnosis for your knee condition followed by a tailored plan to suit your lifestyle. Our exercise expertise and connection to Exercise Physiology services allows us to have a broader view to treat your knee pain. See below for some more common conditions treated.
