Mastitis Treatment

What is Mastitis?

Mastitis is inflammation of the breast tissue which is usually due to a blocked milk duct during breastfeeding. The milk that has backed up can be forced into nearby breast tissue which can then become inflamed. This can become very painful for a breastfeeding mother and can also cause more systemic issues such as flu like symptoms such as aches and shivers.

Ultrasound therapy:

Specialist Physiotherapists are increasingly using therapeutic ultrasound in the treatment of Mastitis. This is a very effective form of treatment that can have quick and lasting results without discomfort. If successful you may be able to avoid antibiotics and ongoing issues from this condition.
